Kyrgyz speaker, Palestinian ambassador discuss situation in Gaza

Bishkek, April 23, 2026. /Kabar/. On April 22, Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev received the Palestinian Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, Wail Ahmed Batrehi.

According to the parliament's press service, during the meeting,they discuss issues related to bilateral relations, and views on developing cooperation were exchanged.

Mamataliev congratulated Wail Ahmed Batrehi on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan and wished him success in his work.

He also noted that Kyrgyzstan is following with concern the ongoing events in Palestine, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.

"In this regard, I express my condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones as a result of the conflict, as well as to the entire Palestinian people. These tragic events, accompanied by the loss of thousands of lives, should not leave anyone indifferent," he said.

Furthermore, the speaker added that the country supports the efforts of the international community, primarily the UN Security Council, aimed at a rapid and complete cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, resolving the humanitarian crisis, and peacefully resolving the conflict based on the principle of "two states for two peoples."

Along with this, he noted the need to further develop political dialogue between the two countries and emphasized the importance of establishing interparliamentary ties.

In turn, Ambassador Waill Ahmed Batrehi expressed gratitude to the speaker for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Palestinian National Council.

"We are grateful to the leadership and people of Kyrgyzstan for their continued support on the international stage. Our countries are united by shared spiritual values ​​and relations based on mutual trust. As part of my diplomatic activities, I will make every effort to develop this existing cooperation," he said.

The ambassador also provided detailed account of the current situation in his country.
