Bishkek, July 24, 2026. /Kabar/. The roundtable discussion on Kyrgyz culture was held as part of the Avignon Off 2026 international theater festival, taking place in Avignon, France.
The event was attended by theater scholars, cultural specialists, festival organizers, and international experts. Participants discussed the history of Kyrgyz theater, its current state, and prospects for further development.
Particular attention was paid to promoting Kyrgyz theater internationally, expanding creative collaboration, implementing joint projects, and supporting young theater professionals.
Furthermore, a meeting was held with Arold David, Vice President of the Avignon Off Festival Board. The parties discussed the possibility of Kyrgyzstan participating in the festival next year with two or three theater productions, as well as prospects for further expanding bilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, mutual interest in strengthening cultural ties, promoting Kyrgyz theater internationally, and implementing joint projects was confirmed.
