Bishkek, July 10, 2026. /Kabar/. Uchur State Youth Theater will represent Kyrgyzstan for the first time at the Avignon World Theater Festival, which will be held from July 13 to 25 in Avignon, France.
As part of the festival, the Kyrgyz theater will present the play "Bugu Ene," based on an ancient Kyrgyz legend widely known thanks to Chyngyz Aitmatov's novella "The White Ship."
The ministry of culture noted that participation in one of the world's most prestigious theater forums will be a historic event for Kyrgyz theater and an important step in promoting Kyrgyz culture internationally.
The play "Bugu Ene" explores the themes of the nomadic civilization of Kyrgyz people, their spiritual heritage, and their close connection with nature. Through its theatrical language, the production raises issues of environmental conservation, respect for nature, and the harmonious coexistence of humans with the surrounding world.
Participation in the festival is expected to expand international creative collaboration, strengthen cultural ties, and introduce Kyrgyz theater to international audiences.
The play was staged by Baktygul Asanova and directed by Adyl Bolorbek Uulu.
