Kyrgyz wrestler Akzhol Mahmudov wins gold at Islamic Solidarity Games

Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestler Akzhol Makhmudov won the gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Saudi Arabia.

Makhmudov competed in the 77 kg weight class and began the tournament in the Round of 16. He confidently defeated all his opponents en route to the decisive bout.

Competition progress:

Round of 16: Akzhol Makhmudov vs. Sami Slama (Tunisia) — 9:0

Quarterfinals: Yehya Abdelkader (Egypt) vs. Akzhol Makhmudov — 0:9

Semifinals: Akzhol Makhmudov vs. Shahin Badagimofrad (Qatar) — 5:3

In the final, the Kyrgyzstani faced Abdi Amir of Iran. Makhmudov dominated the mat and won the fall, becoming the tournament champion.

This gold medal was the first gold medal for the Kyrgyz team at the current Islamic Solidarity Games.

Akzhol Makhmudov also won the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.
