Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstani athlete Nurzat Nurtaeva won a gold medal at the World Youth Wrestling Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia.
According to Kyrgyz State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, she competed in the 72 kg weight category and started the competition from the 1/8 finals stage. In the decisive match for the gold medal, Nurtaeva faced the 2024 world champion among wrestlers under 20 years old, American Jasmine Dolores Robinson. It is noted that in the first period, Nurzat Nurtaeva was leading 1:0, but in the second period she was trailing 3:10. Despite this, she showed a strong will to win and managed to make a comeback, ultimately winning with a score of 11:10 and becoming the world champion.
Thus, Nurzat Nurtaeva became the second Kyrgyzstani athlete to win the title of world champion among wrestlers under 23 years old. The first was Aiperi Medet kyzy in 2021.
