Kyrgyz wrestler Sharshenbekov wins gold medal in Mongolia

Bishkek, June 5, 2026. /Kabar/. Member of the Kyrgyz national Greco-Roman wrestling team Zholaman Sharshenbekov won gold medal at the Ulaanbaatar Open international rating tournament held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The athlete participated in the tournament in the weight category up to 63 kilograms. In the first round of the competition, he faced Iranian athlete Erfan Jarkani, winning with a score of 1:1 with the advantage of the last point, and in the second round he confidently defeated Sunny Kumar from India with a score of 5:1.

Despite losing to another Iranian wrestler, Mohammad Keshkar, in the third round, Zholaman had a chance to reach the semifinals thanks to his first two victories.

In the semi-final match, Sharshenbekov defeated Kazakhstan's Erkebulan Ardakov 3:1 and advanced to the final.

In the decisive match for the gold medal, Zholaman Sharshenbekov was to face Iranian Mohammad Keshkar again, who had defeated him in the third round. However, the Iranian athlete refused to participate in the match due to an injury.

As a result, Zholaman Sharshenbekov was declared the winner of the competition and won the gold medal of the tournament.
