Kyrgyzstan and France to expand cooperation in healthcare

Bishkek, July 16, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Health Minister Damir Osmonov met with French Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nicolas Faye.

During the talks, the parties discussed current issues and prospects for the further development of Kyrgyz-French cooperation in healthcare. Particular attention was paid to strengthening partnerships in the areas of medical training, sharing best practices, implementing modern medical technologies, and developing institutional collaboration between specialized institutions in the two countries.

Damir Osmonov noted that the Ministry of Health attaches great importance to developing international cooperation, which contributes to improving the quality of medical care, the professional growth of domestic specialists, and the implementation of best international practices in the national healthcare system.

In turn, Nicolas Faye confirmed France's interest in further expanding cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing their readiness to continue working together to implement initiatives of mutual interest.

One of the practical results of this cooperation was the advanced training of Kyrgyz doctors in France. During the meeting, the Minister and Ambassador presented certificates to four specialists from the National Hospital who successfully completed training at French medical institutions under the current memorandum of cooperation. The certificates were awarded to doctors in the specialties of otolaryngology, neurology, endocrinology, and ophthalmology.

The meeting participants noted that such educational programs contribute to strengthening the human resources potential of the national healthcare system, developing the professional competencies of medical workers, and implementing modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

The parties also discussed the further development of cooperation with the University Hospitals of Greater Paris (Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris, AP-HP), including the preparation of a memorandum of understanding envisaging expanded academic and professional exchange, organizing internships for medical workers, and developing joint educational initiatives.

Following the meeting, Damir Osmonov and Nicolas Faye confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening Kyrgyz-French cooperation in healthcare, aimed at improving the quality of medical care, developing human capital, and introducing advanced international practices into the Kyrgyz healthcare system.
