Bishkek, Feb. 5, 2026. /Kabar/. Seminar on "Strengthening Defense Industry Cooperation between India and the Kyrgyz Republic" was held in Bishkek on February 4-5.
The event was supported by Indian Embassy in Bishkek, the Department of Defense Production of the Indian Ministry of Defense, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Over 75 people attended the seminar. Kyrgyz side was represented by approximately 40 participants, including employees of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Border Service, the State Penitentiary Service, and representatives of five defense companies. Indian side was represented by 35 participants, including representatives of the Embassy, FICCI, and 15 defense companies.
Product presentations and an exhibition were held on February 4, and B2B meetings were held on February 5.
Addressing the participants, Indian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Birender Singh Yadav noted that, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) vision, the country's defense sector has undergone extensive reforms aimed at developing domestic production, innovation, and exports. He noted that a wide range of Indian defense products has proven their effectiveness and has attracted interest in global markets.
He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, thanks to its strategic location and growing interest in technology, is a promising partner, and India is ready to be a reliable and long-term ally in the defense and technology sectors. The ambassador called for more active development of joint projects and ventures in advanced and niche technologies.
The event's chief guest was Kyrgyz Deputy Defense Minister Azizbek Baibalaev. In his speech, he noted the growing momentum of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India, emphasizing that the seminar will serve as the foundation for further collaboration in the defense industry.
It is noted that the seminar was conceived as a platform for developing cooperation within the strategic partnership. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, defense companies, and experts from both countries and marked a step toward implementing joint projects in the future.
