Kyrgyzstan and Japan discuss support for SMEs

Bishkek, March 4, 2026 /Kabar/. Deputy Minister Benazir Nurlanova met with representatives of Japanese financial institutions and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Bishkek. According to the Ministry of Economy, the meeting discussed issues of state policy to support small and medium-sized businesses, the development of financial support mechanisms for businesses, and the role of the Kyrgyz Republic's guarantee fund in expanding entrepreneurs' access to credit.

Kyrgyz side informed the meeting participants about the ongoing work to develop the Program for Support and Development of Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurs until 2030, aimed at improving the business environment and expanding entrepreneurs' access to financial resources.

In turn, the Japanese side shared its experience with the credit guarantee system in Japan, noting its importance in ensuring small and medium-sized businesses' access to bank financing, especially for start-up entrepreneurs and companies without sufficient collateral.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further developing cooperation and exchanging experiences in supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
