Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2026 /Kabar/. As part of a working visit by a Kyrgyz delegation to the Republic of Korea, a meeting took place on September 8 between deputy heads of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Intellectual Property of South Korea (MOIP), the Ministry of Science of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Lira Sulaimanova, Deputy Minister of Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Chen Yeon-woo, Deputy Minister of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), discussed the current state and future development of the national intellectual property system. Key topics included digital transformation, the automation of administrative processes, the application of artificial intelligence, and the development of modern information systems.
Particular attention was paid to sharing South Korea’s experience in the intellectual property sector, the commercialization of intellectual property assets, the development of digital tools, and enhancing the efficiency of public services.
Following the discussions, the parties reaffirmed their interest in further expanding expert, technical, and institutional cooperation, as well as in formulating practical proposals to improve the intellectual property system of the Kyrgyz Republic.
A significant practical outcome of the preparations for these meetings will be the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of intellectual property between the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Korean Intellectual Property Office. The draft memorandum has already been reviewed during Kyrgyz-South Korean consultations, and its signing is scheduled for the upcoming inaugural "Republic of Korea – Central Asia" summit, to be held in Seoul on September 16–17.
