Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2026 /Kabar/. A bilateral meeting took place today in Seoul between Almaz Saliev, Chairman of the State Customs Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, and Lee Jong-wook, Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service.

According to the State Customs Service, the parties discussed current issues regarding bilateral cooperation in the customs sector, as well as future directions for collaboration between the customs authorities of the two states.

Following the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Korea on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs matters. Implementation of the agreement will strengthen practical cooperation between the customs authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Korea, ensure the prompt exchange of information regarding customs control and the prevention and suppression of customs violations, and facilitate the lawful movement of goods and the development of foreign trade.

"The agreement also provides for the exchange of information concerning customs value, classification, and the origin of goods, as well as the provision of mutual administrative assistance during verification activities," the statement reads.

The meeting and the signing of the agreement took place during the official visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to the Republic of Korea—held in Seoul from September 15 to 18—to participate in the Korea - Central Asia Summit.
