Bishkek, July 22, 2026 /Kabar/. The first official visit of Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov to Kyrgyzstan once again confirms the two countries' intention to strengthen cooperation. Kyrgyz Ambassador to Belarus Erbol Sultanbaev told during the bilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.
According to him, this official visit is a continuation of high-level bilateral meetings held this year. As a reminder, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin made his first official visit to Kyrgyzstan in early June of this year.
"During the visit, a number of bilateral agreements were reached, including in the area of trade and economic cooperation. More than 20 agreements worth a total of $500 million were signed between Kyrgyz and Belarusian companies. Kyrgyz-Belarusian Business Council was also established. Today, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed the implementation of these agreements.
Furthermore, they discussed current issues of cooperation in agriculture, industry, education, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The ministers exchanged views on the general agenda and outlined future plans for the near future.
In general, Kyrgyzstan views countries with an annual trade turnover of over $200 million as priority trading partners. Last year, trade between the two countries exceeded $200 million for the first time in history, reaching $206.5 million, according to Kyrgyz statistics. According to Belarusian statistics, this figure was approximately $340 million," Sultanbaev noted.
The ambassador emphasized that Belarus is currently one of Kyrgyzstan's most important partners in the political, trade, and economic spheres.
"In addition to agricultural and municipal equipment, as well as food products, there are good examples of industrial cooperation. For example, in Osh, an elevator equipment assembly plant is being established jointly with the Belarusian company Mogilevliftmash. Also, the launch of another new transformer assembly plant in Bishkek is planned for the coming months.
Currently, Kyrgyzstan does not have its own transformer manufacturing plant. Therefore, local entrepreneurs, together with the Belarusian Kozlov Plant, will open a transformer equipment assembly plant in Bishkek in the coming months.
As for exports, shipments of Kyrgyz products to the Belarusian market are growing annually. Over the past three years, this figure has increased by 35%. For many years, Kyrgyz radiators have traditionally been supplied primarily to large Belarusian companies such as MAZ, MTZ, Gomselmash, and BelAZ," he said.
The ambassador also reported that, following joint business forums held last year and this year in Minsk and Bishkek, agreements were signed to supply Kyrgyz agricultural products, particularly early fruits and vegetables, to the Belarusian market.
He noted that, thanks to Kyrgyzstan's climatic conditions, it is able to supply these products at a time convenient for Belarusian consumers.
