Kyrgyzstan, China to expand book cooperation

Bishkek, July 29, 2026 /Kabar/. Bishkek hosts meeting with representatives of the Chinese publishing houses Xinhua and Phoenix-Chuishi at the State Book Chamber of Kyrgyz Republic. During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of book publishing, book culture, and the expansion of humanitarian cooperation, according to the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyz Republic.

State Book Chamber Director Zhyldyz Bakashova presented information on the institution's activities, the current state of Kyrgyzstan's publishing industry, the legal deposit system, international standardization of publication numbering (ISBN, ISSN, ISMN), and efforts to digitalize the national documentary heritage.

During the meeting, the parties expressed interest in developing cooperation in the mutual translation and publication of fiction, popular science, and children's literature, implementing joint publishing projects, exchanging books, and holding professional events.

Following the meeting, they agreed to further strengthen the Kyrgyz-Chinese partnership in the book industry and develop humanitarian ties between the two countries.
