Bishkek, May 18, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, the Speaker of the Parliament, Marlen Mamataliev, received the Head of the European Union Delegation to Kyrgyzstan, Remi Duflo.
As reported by the parliament, at the meeting the parties discussed the current state of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union and exchanged views on the development of cooperation.
Mamataliev noted that cooperation with all countries that are members of the European Union is one of the main directions of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.
"We are interested in continuing active dialogue in bilateral and regional formats. In particular, we pay special attention to partnership in the development of the education sector, digitalization and strengthening transport links," he said.
In addition, the speaker noted that close ties have also been established between the Jogorku Kenesh and the European Parliament: "In particular, relations within the framework of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee are actively continued, and bilateral visits are regularly organized. For example, in February of this year, the 18th meeting of the said committee was successfully held in Bishkek, and in March, the first interparliamentary forum "Central Asia - the European Union" was organized in Samarkand. We need to further deepen the partnership and hold such meetings consistently," he said.
In addition, Marlen Mamataliev, recalling that the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union was signed during President Sadyr Zhaparov's visit to Europe two years ago, called for the agreement to be ratified by the national parliaments of European countries as soon as possible.
In turn, the head of the delegation, Remi Duflo, noted that Kyrgyzstan is one of the main partners of the European Union in Central Asia, adding that he is eager to develop partnership within the framework of the agreements and arrangements reached.
The meeting also discussed issues related to labor migrants and certain sanctions.
