Kyrgyzstan expands organic agriculture area

Bishkek, Aug. 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan continues on developing organic agriculture. As of June 30, 2026, the total area of ​​land involved in organic production exceeded 101 thousand 358 hectares.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, 11 cooperatives produce and process organic products in accordance with international standards. Their total area is 11 thousand 392 hectares.

In addition, work is underway to introduce a participatory guarantee system (PGS) for organic production in 37 regions. The area of ​​land in this direction is 85 thousand 257 hectares.

Pilot private farms for organic production are also being organized in the regions, and they are being trained in PGS and international certification requirements. Their total area is 4 thousand 709 hectares. Work will continue to expand organic production and increase the potential of Kyrgyz products in domestic and foreign markets.

Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) are locally focused quality assurance programs that certify organic producers through the active participation of stakeholders, including farmers and consumers.
