Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2026 /Kabar/. Akyl Toktobaev, the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan met Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in Tbilisi.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further developing friendly relations and strengthening practical cooperation between the relevant agencies of both countries.
The Kyrgyz side highlighted its active efforts to expand access to international climate finance and build a national portfolio of climate projects. Interest was expressed in exchanging experience regarding the attraction of "green" investments, project implementation with the support of international financial institutions, and the development of green finance mechanisms, including the preparation of joint initiatives.
Particular attention was paid to biodiversity conservation and the development of specially protected natural areas.
"Kyrgyzstan, home to approximately 2% of the world's flora and over 3% of its fauna, is interested in exchanging practical expertise in this field, taking into account Georgia's progress in developing its system of specially protected natural areas," the statement says.
The parties also discussed cooperation within the framework of international and regional climate initiatives and agreed to maintain a regular dialogue on issues of climate policy, adaptation, and resilience building.
It was noted that the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached would serve as a foundation for further expanding cooperation and preparing new, concrete projects.
