Bishkek, Oct.14, 2026 /Kabar/. In 2026, Kyrgyzstan harvested approximately 2.5 million tons of grain and 965,000 tons of potatoes. Compared to the same period last year, the grain harvest increased by 714,000 tons, and the potato harvest by 317,000 tons. Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reports.
According to the agency's preliminary data, the country's autumn harvest campaign is nearing completion. The Chui region leads in grain harvesting. The harvesting of wheat and barley is virtually complete, while the gross harvest of grain corn has exceeded 671,000 tons, nearly double last year's figure.
Additionally, 891,000 tons of vegetables and 240,000 tons of melons and gourds have been harvested. The bulk of the potato crop traditionally comes from the Issyk-Kul region.
Sugar beet harvesting is ongoing. To date, one-third of the planted area has been harvested, with an average yield of 420 centners per hectare.
In the southern regions, the pace of cotton harvesting has more than doubled compared to last year's figures. Over 16,000 tons of cotton have been delivered to storage facilities.
The ministry notes that the increased crop harvest helps ensure food supplies for the domestic market and provides raw materials for the processing industry.
