Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan will be able to fully self-sufficient in sugar, produced from sugar beet, Turat Idirisov, head of the department of plant growing of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry told Birinchi Radio.
According to him, based on the remaining reserves from last year and this year's harvest, there is enough sugar. "Last year, we harvested a record amount of 957 thousand tons of sugar beet. This year, the yield was lower, and the sugar beet yield is around 380-450 centners per hectare. Last year, the same figure was over 600 centners. This is due to the sharp change in weather conditions and their impact," the ministry representative said.
He also reported that the harvest will be completed in the last sugar beet areas in Chui oblast this week.
