Bishkek, Dec. 1, 2025. /Kabar/. The Republican Center for the Control of Blood-Borne Viral Hepatitis and HIV has announced the launch of an information campaign dedicated to World AIDS Day. This year, it is being held under the motto "Together, we will defeat HIV, caring for ourselves and for everyone."

On December 1, Kyrgyzstan, along with the international community, celebrates this day, paying special attention to young people and their level of awareness about HIV and reproductive health.

According to the center, it is crucial for young people to take personal responsibility for their health and be able to make informed decisions about how to protect themselves and their partners; where to get tested; and what modern methods of preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted infections are currently available.

Umutkan Chokmorova, Director of the Republican Center for the Control of Blood-Borne Viral Hepatitis and HIV, emphasized that the country has a centralized drug procurement system.

"Kyrgyzpharma is responsible for procurement. Currently, we have no shortages of medications: 80% of the purchases are funded by the state, and 20% by the Global Fund," Chokmorova noted.

The information campaign will continue throughout December and includes educational events, consultations, testing, and promotions aimed at raising public awareness about HIV and strengthening prevention measures.
