Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland sign agreement on international road transport

Bishkek, Aug. 13, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland signed an intergovernmental agreement on the international transport of passengers and goods by road, the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications reports.

The document was signed following a meeting between Minister of Transport and Communications Talantbek Soltobaev and the Swiss Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Siroko Messerli, on August 12.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the signing of an agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Swiss Federal Council on the international transport of passengers and goods by road.

Talantbek Soltobaev noted that the signing of the document is an important step in the further development of transport cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement creates the necessary legal basis for international road transport between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland, as well as for organizing transit traffic through the two countries.

The document is expected to facilitate expanded transport cooperation, develop trade and economic ties, business and tourism, and enhance citizen mobility.

During the meeting, the parties expressed gratitude to the competent authorities of the two countries for their joint work in drafting and finalizing the agreement.

The new agreement is expected to develop road transport and expand mutually beneficial transport cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland.
