Bishkek, Aug. 12, 2026 /Kabar/. First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Seidaliev met with Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan Azat Ziganshin in Bishkek.
According to the ministry, the main topic of the meeting was the implementation of one of the most significant joint environmental and scientific projects—the Ak Ilbirs Research and Rehabilitation Center, being established in Issyk-Kul.
"This will be a specialized complex for all of Central Asia, combining scientific research, a modern laboratory, veterinary care, and the rehabilitation of rare and endangered animal species," the statement says.
It is noted that the center will focus on preserving and restoring the snow leopard population, one of Kyrgyzstan's main natural symbols. It will provide conditions for scientific research, veterinary diagnostics, animal rehabilitation, and the implementation of biodiversity conservation programs.
During the meeting, the parties noted the positive momentum of construction and discussed further accelerating work to equip the center with modern laboratory equipment.
Special attention was paid to strengthening the joint snow leopard conservation program, as well as developing scientific cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan.
