Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. Until now, only educational campaigns have been conducted in Kyrgyzstan regarding scooter drivers. However, a Cabinet of Ministers resolution has now been issued approving official regulations for this category of road users. Baikazy Aitikul uulu, a lawyer from Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs' traffic safety departmen told Kabar.
According to him, the document establishes age restrictions, speed limits, and mandatory fines for violators.
"Children under 7 years old may only ride scooters when accompanied by an adult or parent. Drivers of personal mobility devices are now required to wear protective helmets and reflective clothing at night. At pedestrian crossings, scooter riders will now be required to cross the road on foot, with the scooter next to them. The maximum speed limit is now 25 km/h," explained Baikazy Aitikul uulu.
He also noted that violating these regulations carries a fine of 1,000 to 3,000 soms. If a person operates a scooter while intoxicated, the fine will be 3,000 soms.
