Kyrgyzstan to build 106 new reservoirs by 2030

Bishkek, July 15, 2026 /Kabar/. Special representative of Kyrgyz president for special assignments Bakyt Torobaev held meeting on the implementation of projects for the development of water management and modernization of irrigation infrastructure.

The meeting considered the implementation of projects implemented by the state institution "Kyrgyzsuu Project", as well as the design, construction and reconstruction of water management facilities. Particular attention was paid to the efficient use of water resources, the development of irrigation infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development of agriculture.

By 2030, it is planned to build 106 new reservoirs and modernize water management infrastructure. The implementation of the projects will allow agricultural producers to continuously provide irrigation water, increase the volume of agricultural products and strengthen the country's food security.

Comprehensive solution to water supply issues will allow increasing agricultural productivity by up to 70 percent, expanding opportunities for farmers, increasing economic activity in regions, and improving the quality of life of the population.

The measures being implemented by president's instructions, aimed at strengthening the water security of Kyrgyz Republic, developing the agricultural sector, and ensuring the sustainable socio-economic development of the country.
