Bishkek, Oct. 13, 2026 /Kabar/. In 2026, Kyrgyzstan is importing 4 billion kWh of electricity to meet its energy needs. However, the capacity to supply additional electricity to Kyrgyzstan becomes limited during periods of peak consumption in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Russia. President Sadyr Zhaparov told during meeting with residents of the Kadamjai district and Kyzyl-Kiya city.

According to the head of state, this situation necessitates temporary electricity restrictions in certain areas.

"At such times, there is no other option but to restrict electricity in some places for one or two hours. At all other times, electricity is supplied at 100 percent capacity. We are working to resolve this issue within two to two-and-a-half years and eliminate the need for imports," the president said.
