Bishkek, July 14, 2026. /Kabar/. International structural metadata expert Andrea Bruni visited Bishkek from July 6 to 10.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the main goal of the visit was to provide expert support in developing a structural metadata management system in accordance with international standards and best practices.

As part of the mission, National Statistical Committee Chairman Baktybek Kudaibergenov met with international expert Andrea Bruni. During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas for developing the digital infrastructure of official statistics, the implementation of international standards for structural metadata management, and further cooperation with international partners.

"Improving the metadata system is a key area of modernization for the statistical system and an important condition for improving the quality and accessibility of official statistical information," noted Kudaibergenov.

Structural metadata is a crucial element of modern official statistics. It ensures unified approaches to organizing statistical information, making data more understandable, comparable, and easier to find and use.

This is especially important for government agencies, businesses, the scientific community, international organizations, and all users of official statistics who require high-quality and reliable data for decision-making.

During the mission, the expert held working meetings with specialists from the National Statistical Committee and learned about the current state of work on developing the structural metadata system, the architecture of information systems, and approaches to creating a structural metadata repository.

The program addressed issues related to improving structural metadata templates, developing and implementing a unified repository, and applying international models and standards in statistical production.

Following the discussions, Andrea Bruni presented practical recommendations that will be used in the future implementation of statistical infrastructure modernization projects.
