Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2026 /Kabar/. Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan participated in a ceremonial online launch of modern wastewater treatment facilities and drinking water supply systems across 70 settlements in seven regions of the country. The event took place in Karakol city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the implementation of these projects marks a significant step toward providing the population with high-quality drinking water, improving sanitary and epidemiological conditions, and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan is consistently carrying out large-scale infrastructure projects designed to foster regional development. Driven by economic growth and the state’s increased financial capacity, investments are expanding into the social sector, including the construction of roads, schools, medical facilities, and water supply and sanitation infrastructure.

According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, $567.5 million in investments has been secured for the development of drinking water supply and sanitation systems since 2021. Over the past five years, projects to provide clean water have been completed in 264 settlements, granting more than 663,000 citizens access to high-quality drinking water.

Furthermore, the challenge of providing clean water has been addressed in 13 cities across the country, while wastewater treatment systems have been modernized in six cities. As part of today’s event, in addition to the modern treatment facilities in Karakol city, 70 drinking water supply projects are being commissioned across seven regions of the republic. Specifically, 18 projects are located in Osh region, 11 in Batken region, 13 in Jalal-Abad region, 11 in Naryn region, eight in Talas region, and five in Chui region. In Issyk-Kul region, access to clean water has been provided for the villages of Kichi-Oruktu, Tilekmat, and Karool-Dobo.

In total, the implementation of these projects will provide clean drinking water to approximately 200,000 citizens.

In his remarks, Adylbek Kasymaliev placed particular emphasis on environmental safety in Issyk-Kul region. He stressed that the construction of modern treatment facilities is of vital importance for preserving the ecological well-being of Issyk-Kul lake and for the sustainable development of the region’s tourism sector.

It was noted that approximately 5 billion soms have been allocated this year for the development of drinking water supply and sanitation systems. Currently, the construction of wastewater treatment plants is underway in 11 cities and four major settlements.

In closing, Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that the consistent implementation of infrastructure projects is part of the state’s policy to develop the regions and improve the well-being of the population. These new water supply and sanitation facilities will make a significant contribution to improving living conditions for citizens, strengthening public health, and ensuring environmental safety across the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
