Bishkek, July 28, 2026. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Mirbek Duysheev met with a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister Kahramon Yuldashev.
The meeting took place on July 28 as part of Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Forum. The parties discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, focusing on developing collaboration in crop production, rice cultivation, seed production, and potato growing.
Meeting participants noted the positive dynamics of cooperation in conducting crop variety testing, exchanging breeding material, and implementing joint scientific research. They also discussed prospects for supplying Kyrgyz-bred alfalfa seeds and domestically produced certified seed potatoes to Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, the parties discussed phytosanitary security issues, conducting joint cross-border surveys for locust pests, and providing Kyrgyzstan's agricultural sector with mineral fertilizers. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in renewing the agreement on long-term and uninterrupted supplies of mineral fertilizers from Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation in the agricultural sector, expand scientific and technical collaboration, and implement joint projects aimed at ensuring food security and developing trade and economic ties between the two countries.
