Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan discuss land exchange issues

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz-Uzbek joint commission held working meeting in Kadamjay, Batken region, to address organizational and technical issues related to the land exchange, including determining the citizenship of residents of the exchange territories, their resettlement, as well as property, economic, and other issues.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, the Kyrgyz side was chaired by First Deputy Minister Kamchybek Dosmatov. The Uzbek side headed by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan Botir Kudratkhodjaev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the land exchange process and agreed on the future course of joint work.

Following the meeting, they approved the composition of the Joint Working Group, consisting of representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and local authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The working group will implement measures related to resolving citizenship issues for residents of the exchange territories, organizing resettlement, transferring state property, formalizing citizens' property rights, regulating land use issues, social security, and ensuring the continuity of the educational process.

The working group has already begun practical work, conducting field visits to the exchange territories and regularly updating the commission co-chairs.
