Bishkek, July 31, 2026 /Kabar/. The Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan signed an Action Plan for Cultural Cooperation for 2026–2027.
According to the ministry, the document was signed on July 30 during the state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan. The agreement aims to further strengthen Kyrgyz-Uzbek cultural and humanitarian cooperation, expand creative ties, and implement joint projects.
It is noted that the Plan envisages intensified interaction between the ministries within international organizations, including TURKSOY, UNESCO, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and ICESCO, as well as regular consultations and the coordination of joint initiatives.
Particular attention is paid to organizing reciprocal Cinema Days, the participation of creative groups from both countries in major international festivals and competitions, conducting ethno-folklore expeditions, jointly studying and promoting intangible cultural heritage, developing cooperation in cinematography, theater, and music, as well as training and exchanging experiences between specialized educational institutions.
Furthermore, the document provides for the participation of representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in international cultural forums, theater, and music festivals held in both countries, expanding theater touring activities, strengthening ties between regional cultural institutions, and implementing joint educational programs.
It is noted that the signing of the Plan marks another practical step in developing cultural cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, confirming the parties' commitment to preserving their shared historical and cultural heritage, developing intercultural dialogue, and strengthening traditional relations of friendship and good-neighborliness between fraternal peoples.
