Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. Yesterday, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliev, met with Sodik Safoev, First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
According to the parliament, the parties discussed issues regarding the enhancement of political-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations between the two countries and exchanged views on developing inter-parliamentary cooperation. Noting Kyrgyzstan's interest in developing close neighborly, fraternal, and established strategic partnership relations with Uzbekistan, Marlen Mamataliev stated: "I am confident that the regular meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission taking place today will not only strengthen ties between our parliaments but also provide significant impetus to consolidating Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. After all, parliamentary diplomacy plays a crucial role in expanding interstate connections."
At the same time, he emphasized the need to develop bilateral relations within international forums such as the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and TURKPA.
In turn, Sodik Safoev conveyed greetings to Marlen Mamataliev from Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, and Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber, and expressed gratitude for the support provided to the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission.
Furthermore, noting the Uzbek people's particular delight at Kyrgyzstan's recent achievements, Sodik Safoev highlighted that an annual growth rate of 11% represents an outstanding figure, even by global standards.
At the same time, noting the active development of relations between the two countries, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate shared proposals for enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
It should be noted that Sodik Safoev arrived to participate in the regular meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan and the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
