Bishkek, July 2, 2026 /Kabar/. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan is participating in UN Counter-Terrorism Week (CT Week) in New York, Kyrgyzstan' State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reports.
The staff and Deputy Chairman-Director of the SCNS Anti-Terrorism Center, Alisher Erbaev, participated in the Fourth UN High-Level Conference for Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies (June 29-30), the 9th Plenary Session of the UN General Assembly to review the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy (July 1-2), and various side events.
During the conference, participants reaffirmed the global commitment to a multilateral approach to countering terrorism, as well as the importance of regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices in implementing all four pillars of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
Speaking at the 9th Plenary Session, Alisher Erbaev noted Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the goals and principles of the strategy. In his statement, he also highlighted the country's achievements in countering terrorism, protecting critical infrastructure, and strengthening international cooperation.
During UN Counter-Terrorism Week, the Anti-Terrorism Center, together with the Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to the UN, with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, organized a side event on protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring security during the planning and holding of mass events.
As part of this week, Alisher Erbaev also held a bilateral meeting with Alexander Zuev, Acting Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism and Head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The parties discussed prospects for further deepening cooperation, sharing experiences, technical assistance, and joint initiatives in the context of Kyrgyzstan's upcoming non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
