Kyrgyzstan's demographic policy 2040 discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2025. /Kabar/. The working meeting of the interdepartmental working group was held in Bishkek to discuss the draft action plan for the first phase of the Demographic Policy Concept of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2040.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, representatives of government agencies and departments, experts, and development partners, including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), participated in the event.

First Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Kamchybek Dosmatov emphasized that demographic policy is a set of measures to improve the quality of life of citizens.

"The main objectives of demographic policy are maintaining and increasing population, supporting the birth rate, increasing life expectancy, reducing mortality among the working-age population, strengthening the institution of family and civic consciousness, and creating decent jobs within the country. Successful implementation of the Concept directly impacts the future of our country and its socioeconomic stability," he noted. The meeting included discussions on:

* Review of the demographic policy concept until 2040;

* Demographic sustainability and the demographic dividend;

* Bosnia and Herzegovina's experience in implementing gender-responsive family policies;

* Draft action plan for the first phase.

Following the speakers' presentations, participants broke into small groups to discuss the draft plan, taking into account funding sources and proposals from all stakeholders. The results of the discussions formed the basis for the document to be finalized.

The event concluded with summary and the agreed adoption of plan for further action, including the implementation of the decisions of the first phase of the concept for the period 2026–2030.
