Bishkek, Aug. 10, 2026 /Kabar/. Logistics is one of the most pressing issues in the world today, Doctor of Economics and Professor Guras Zhaparov says.

According to him, the situation in the area of fuel and lubricant logistics is particularly challenging.

"Logistics remains a pressing issue not only for Kyrgyzstan but for all EAEU member states. Strategic decisions must be made in this area. I believe that the issues raised should be addressed at the government level in the near future. "Within the EAEU, our main trade relations for fuel and investment are with Russia and Kazakhstan," he said.

As the expert noted, joint efforts are being conducted within the EAEU to reduce barriers. These issues can be roughly divided into three areas: geopolitical, regional competition, and economic.

"The first area is the geopolitical factor. Currently, Russia and China, on one side, and Western countries, on the other, are creating a certain confrontation. Against this backdrop, the situation in the fuel market is also deteriorating. Therefore, each state, including Kyrgyzstan, must maintain a balanced position," Zhaparov added.

He also noted that the former lengthy traffic congestion at border crossings between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan is no longer observed.
