Bishkek, July 27, 2026 /Kabar/. Gulf University Professor Ahmed Tawalbi, representing the Kingdom of Bahrain, noted the particular importance of the international media forum amid rapid changes in the global information sphere.
According to him, such platforms are especially in demand today, as they allow representatives of different countries to better understand each other, share experiences, and jointly seek answers to current challenges.
"First of all, I would like to thank the organizers for holding such a forum. Today, the media landscape is going through a challenging period, and we need to understand the ongoing processes. With the development of artificial intelligence, it's especially important to distinguish fake news from reliable journalism. Such meetings help the professional community exchange opinions, get to know each other, and jointly address complex issues," Ahmed Tawalbi emphasized.
He also explained that he represents Gulf University in Bahrain, where he works as a professor of media. According to him, the university is focusing on developing cultural ties with Russia and has a Russian Center for Russian language studies.
"My attendance at the forum confirms my interest in developing international cooperation and professional dialogue," the professor noted.
As a reminder, today, Bishkek is hosting the first-ever forum of media outlets and think tanks from SCO member states, organized by the Kyrgyz National News Agency "Kabar" and the Chinese news agency "Xinhua."
The event is attended by approximately 250 representatives from 26 countries, including heads of leading news agencies, media representatives, think tanks, research institutes, government agencies, and international organizations. The forum's theme is "The SCO in a New Era: From Mutual Understanding to Practical Cooperation." During plenary sessions and thematic sessions, participants will discuss the development of international information cooperation, the digital transformation of the media environment, humanitarian interaction, and contemporary challenges in the global information space.
