Ankara, Oct. 30, 2026 /Kabar/. Media representatives and experts from Turkic states discussed efforts to combat disinformation, verify information and develop strategic communications at a roundtable held as part of the Turkic World Dialogue Forum in Ankara.

The discussion brought together representatives of government agencies, news agencies, television channels, universities and analytical centers from Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary and other countries.

Deniz Demir, coordinator of the Center for Combating Disinformation under the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of Turkiye, said information manipulation affects public opinion, decision-making and social stability. She stressed the importance of providing reliable information in a timely manner and coordinating efforts.

Zhalgasbek Altayev, director of Kazakhstan’s National Television Channel, highlighted the risks of using artificial intelligence to create fake content. He said journalists need to strengthen their fact-checking skills and ability to detect fake content, and called for the creation of a specialized cooperation platform.

Nurzhan Kasmalieva, head of international department of Kyrgyz National Kabar News Agency, emphasized that journalists should rely on trustworthy sources and carefully verify information before publication. He also highlighted the need to train young journalists to use artificial intelligence tools and expand cooperation among news agencies.

The participants called for regular exchanges of experience, stronger professional ties and joint fact-checking mechanisms. They emphasized that responsible journalism and coordinated media efforts are essential to combating disinformation and strengthening public trust.
