Bishkek, Sept. 14, 2026 /Kabar/. Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, attended the opening ceremony of the National Chess Academy in Bishkek, the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The Chess Academy was established in accordance with the Decrees of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov "On Urgent Measures for the Development and Popularization of Chess in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2026–2030" and "On the National Chess Academy under the Kyrgyz Chess Union."

The Academy aims to ensure the systematic training of international-level chess players, the identification and support of talented young people, and the further development of the chess movement in the country.

During the event, the the head of the Cabinet inspected the conditions created at the Chess Academy for the education and training of young chess players.

Adylbek Kasymaliev spoke with the parents of chess players, noting the importance of creating favorable conditions for the intellectual and comprehensive development of children and youth.

Kasymaliev emphasized that the decrees of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov have given new impetus to the development of chess in the country. Currently, the "Chess in Schools" project is being implemented in 500 schools across the country for students in grades 3-5.

"Today, the National Chess Academy begins its work. I am confident that it will become an important center for training talented chess players and will contribute to the development of a new generation of athletes capable of representing Kyrgyzstan with dignity on the international stage," he said.

During the event, Adylbek Kasymaliev made the symbolic first move on the central chessboard, officially launching the organization.

The new academy will become a platform for the education and training of young chess players, hosting training sessions and competitions, and further developing chess in the Kyrgyz Republic.
