Issyk-Kul, Sept. 3, 2026 /Kabar/. Today, September 3, the International Festival of Traditional Music "Nomads Art" is taking place in Cholpon-Ata at the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center.
The festival, organized as part of the cultural program of the VI World Nomad Games, brings together traditional music performers from around the world. Musicians from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Ghana, Turkiye, New Zealand, the Republic of Tuva, Yakutia, and Dagestan are participating.
The festival's main feature is the opportunity not only to hear traditional music from different nations but also to witness how it is created. Musicians introduce guests to their culture, talk about the characteristics of their national music, demonstrate how to play traditional instruments, and share their professional skills.
The festival features master classes where participants demonstrate techniques for playing traditional instruments and discuss their importance in the musical cultures of their peoples.
The festival also demonstrates the diversity of traditional music around the world. Despite differences in instruments, sound, and performance techniques, it remains an important part of cultural heritage and a means of transmitting traditions from generation to generation.
