OTS and IRU reaffirm strategic partnership on digital transport

Bishkek, Feb. 12, 2026 /Kabar/. On 11 February 2026, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev held a meeting with Mr. Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General of IRU at the IRU headquarters in Geneva. The meeting reaffirmed the strategic partnership between OTS and IRU, particularly in advancing modern, efficient, and digital road transport systems.

During the meeting, the two Secretaries General reviewed progress achieved in flagship cooperation areas, including digital TIR, introduction of green lanes and TIR-EPD prioritization at border checkpoints, and exchanged views on next steps toward the gradual implementation of eCMR. 

Secretary General welcomed IRU’s continued technical support and invited the Union to designate an expert to participate on a systematic basis in the OTS eCMR Working Group, thereby contributing to the successful advancement of this initiative.

Mr. Umberto de Pretto noted that IRU and OTS are successfully implementing joint projects that have proven to be both effective and impactful. He also expressed IRU’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with OTS in priority areas of collaboration.
