OTS Secretary General addresses the International Conference on Turkology

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) addressed the International Conference on Turkology titled “The Legacy of the First Baku Turkology Congress and the Turkic World in the 21st Century” held on 21 May 2026 in Almaty. 

The Conference was jointly organized by the Turkic Academy and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event brought together representatives of Turkic cooperation organizations and academic institutions from across the Turkic World to discuss the historical significance and contemporary relevance of the First Baku Turkology Congress.

In his remarks, Secretary General Omuraliev underlined that the First Baku Turkology Congress laid the intellectual foundations for unity, mutual understanding and closer cooperation among Turkic peoples. 

Emphasizing the importance of preserving the common historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic World, the Secretary General noted that the ideas once voiced by Turkic intellectuals have today evolved into institutionalized cooperation within the framework of the OTS across a wide range of areas, including education, culture, science, youth and many more. 

The Secretary General also highlighted the important role of Turkic cooperation institutions in strengthening the common identity and solidarity of the Turkic World. Reaffirming the significance of Turkology studies for future generations. He stressed that ongoing cooperation on the Common Turkic Alphabet and shared cultural and academic initiatives contributes to deeper understanding and closer interaction among Turkic peoples.
