On 11 May 2026, H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, met with Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board of Azerbaijan at the premises of the OTS Secretariat in Istanbul.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the preparations and agenda of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the OTS, scheduled to be held on 14-15 September 2026 in Azerbaijan. The discussions focused on a number of important contemporary social issues, including the encouragement of marriage, challenges affecting family formation, and the preservation of family values.
The parties further highlighted the important role of the Fatwa Committee under the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards in fostering closer coordination and developing common approaches on religious matters among the Turkic States.
The meeting underscored the importance of institutionalized dialogue and the further strengthening of structured cooperation in the field of religious affairs within the OTS framework.
