Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), delivered a congratulatory address at the International Conference entitled “New Trends in Oriental Maqom: The Harmony of Tradition and Innovation,” organized within the framework of the 3rd International Maqom Art Forum on 24 June 2026 in Namangan, Uzbekistan.
The Conference brought together prominent researchers, musicians, performers, educators, and cultural leaders from various countries to discuss contemporary developments in maqom art and explore ways to preserve and promote this unique cultural heritage in the modern era.
In his remarks, the Secretary General emphasized the significance of maqom as one of the most profound expressions of Eastern musical thought and an important component of the cultural heritage of the Turkic world. He noted that maqom embodies centuries of spiritual wisdom, artistic excellence, and cultural identity, serving as a living bridge between tradition and innovation.
Ambassador Omuraliev underlined the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing new approaches that ensure its continued relevance for future generations. He highlighted the role of international cultural dialogue in strengthening mutual understanding, fostering respect for cultural diversity, and deepening cooperation among nations.
