Bishkek, Sept. 7, 2026 /Kabar/. More than 15,000 Ministry of Internal Affairs officers ensured security at international events in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Monday.
From August 29 to September 6, law enforcement officers of the Kyrgyz Republic were on high alert, maintaining public order and security during major international events—the 26th SCO Summit and the 6th World Nomad Games, the report said.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 15,000 law enforcement officers were deployed to carry out these tasks. Their work covered the venues of official and sporting events, delegation routes, accommodation facilities, areas with large gatherings of people, and other locations requiring heightened attention.
Officers from other law enforcement agencies and government bodies were also involved in maintaining public order and security, working alongside law enforcement to ensure the safety of participants and guests at the events.
As part of the 6th World Nomad Games, police officers worked directly at the venues of sports competitions and cultural events throughout the entire duration of the games, ensuring order and the safety of spectators and participants, as well as responding promptly to requests for assistance.
One of the most critical tasks was ensuring security during the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games on August 31 at the Bishkek Arena stadium, which drew a crowd of about 30,000 spectators. With a large number of participants and guests, police officers ensured public order, the safety of citizens, and the smooth running of the ceremony.
A significant amount of work took place in the Kyrchyn Gorge and at the racetrack in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu, where the Games’ largest events were held. There, police officers monitored the situation, maintained order, and provided necessary assistance to citizens.
At the same time, the police’s work was not limited to maintaining public order. Officers helped guests and participants find their way around the event venues, and escorted and advised foreign citizens. The Tourist Police, including officers fluent in foreign languages, played a significant role in this effort.
Transportation assistance for citizens was a separate area of focus. In cases where additional transportation was needed, law enforcement officers provided assistance and used police vehicles to transport people.
Medical support also became an important part of the overall effort. The Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs operated at full capacity, ensuring that specialists were ready to provide necessary assistance to event participants, guests, citizens, and law enforcement officers.
The use of modern digital technologies was an integral part of maintaining order. Video surveillance systems made it possible to monitor the situation in real time, promptly identify changes in the operational situation, and respond to them quickly.
Throughout the entire period, the agency’s leadership personally oversaw the organization of operations. Colonel General of Police Ulan Niyazbekov, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and his deputies visited the event venues, inspected how officers were performing their duties, assessed the operational situation, and set tasks for further ensuring order and security.
Throughout the entire duration of the events, not a single crime or offense related to the Games or the SCO summit - or targeting participants, guests, or foreign tourists - occurred.
Thus, throughout the entire duration of the SCO and the 6th World Nomad Games, law enforcement agencies maintained heightened security measures - ranging from safeguarding official events and public venues to assisting citizens, utilizing digital technologies, and managing forces on the ground in real time.
The coordinated efforts of the internal affairs units made it possible to hold these large-scale international events in the Kyrgyz Republic in a calm and safe environment.
