More than 200 researchers from 27 countries are participating in the international conference Sofia Mathematics Days 2026, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Prof. Peter Boyvalenkov said at the opening ceremony here on Monday.
The conference was officially inaugurated in Prof. Marin Drinov Hall at the BAS headquarters in Sofia. The ceremony brought together mathematicians and experts from a wide range of countries, as well as representatives of state institutions, including President Iliana Iotova, BTA reported.
Boyvalenkov said the conference programme features plenary lectures, 12 thematic sessions, mini-workshops, and mini-symposia, and will continue through Thursday.
Boyvalenkov also noted that it has become a tradition for the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to serve as patron of the conference, and expressed his gratitude to Iotova for extending the presidential patronage to this year's edition.
