Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan turned out to be more modern than I imagined before arriving in the country, Polish film producer, Oscar winner for the animated film "Peter and the Wolf," and a representative of the European film industry, Zbigniew Zmudzki, told at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said his previous understanding of Kyrgyzstan was largely influenced by the works of Chyngyz Aitmatov and the film "The First Teacher."
"I imagined that this very image from the film 'The First Teacher' represented Kyrgyzstan." "Perhaps it's a somewhat ancient country, full of yurts and people who herd livestock," he said.
The film producer also noted that after seeing other reports about Kyrgyzstan, he realized it's a beautiful country with remarkable nature and Lake Issyk-Kul.
"And now that I've come to Kyrgyzstan, I've seen, felt, and noticed that Kyrgyzstan is just as modern as Poland," said Zbigniew Zmudzki.
He also noted the difference between the two countries' attitudes toward tradition. According to him, in Poland, tradition is somewhat of a background phenomenon and isn't as strongly supported as in Kyrgyzstan.
