Bishkek, Sept. 1, 2026. /Kabar/. Unity is the foundation of the further development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the achievement of sustainable peace, development, and shared prosperity. Sadyr Zhaparov, Kyrgyz President told at the opening of SCO Heads of State Council meeting.
President Zhaparov welcomed the heads of state and meeting participants and thanked them for their participation in the summit.
Sadyr Zhaparov also expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan, noting that, despite the holiday and significant day for the country, he found the opportunity to come to Bishkek and participate in the meeting.
The president noted that the current meeting is being held in the year of the SCO's 25th anniversary and under the motto of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship: "25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity."
"Over the past quarter century, the SCO has evolved from a mechanism for building trust at the border to one of the leading international organizations, proving its effectiveness and relevance," Sadyr Japarov emphasized.
According to him, SCO member states represent over 40% of the world's population and account for approximately a quarter of global GDP.
The president emphasized that the philosophy of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship is the folk wisdom "Yrys aldy - yntymak"—"Unity is the foundation of well-being."
"These words encapsulate the very essence of the Shanghai Spirit," the head of state said.
Sadyr Zhaparov reported that Kyrgyzstan has held approximately 200 events during its chairmanship. During this time, security cooperation has been strengthened, economic and transport connectivity has advanced, cultural and humanitarian ties have deepened, and digital development and artificial intelligence have become practical priorities for the organization.
"Today, we will thoroughly discuss pressing issues facing member states, identify key guidelines for further cooperation, and make important decisions aimed at further improving the SCO's activities," the President noted.
He emphasized that in the year of the SCO's 25th anniversary, the shared goal of the states is not only to summarize the first quarter of a century but also to open the next chapter in the organization's history—a chapter of sustainable peace, joint development, and shared prosperity.
"I am confident that we will be able to develop coordinated solutions that meet the interests of our peoples. Let this anniversary year be the starting point for a new stage in the development of our organization," said Sadyr Japarov.
