Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2026 /Kabar/. At the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare, doctors from Qatar are performing charitable cochlear implant surgeries for children with severe hearing impairments. Following a medical screening process, 28 children were selected for the surgical procedures.

According to the center, the medical mission began on November 5. It involves specialists from the Qatari medical organization Hamad Medical Corporation: Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Qahtani, Head of the ENT Department and Director of the Cochlear Implantation Program; Dr. Khalid Abdul Hadi, Head of the Audiology and Balance Department; and Dr. Ali Al-Saadi, Head of the Otology Team. Initially, specialists at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health prepared 36 children for surgery. Following an assessment, a specialized medical commission selected 28 patients.

The surgeries are scheduled for November 6, 7, and 8. The procedures will be carried out by physicians, medical staff, and specialized experts from the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) Department. Every stage of care has been organized from preoperative preparation and the surgical intervention itself to postoperative monitoring.

Cochlear implantation is a modern technology that enables children with severe hearing impairment to perceive sound. It also facilitates speech development, social adaptation, and an improved quality of life.

This charitable medical mission represents one facet of the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Qatar in the healthcare sector.
