Issyk-Kul, Sept. 3, 2026 /Kabar/. The Chyngyz Aitmatov Stage at the Rukh Ordo Center is hosting an expanded cultural program by the Narc Art House creative school, dedicated to Kyrgyz traditions, national culture, and folk art.
As Samira Shamyrova, assistant director of the Rukh Ordo venue and head of the Narc Art House creative school, explained that the program includes theatrical demonstrations of traditions, master classes, exhibitions of national costumes and headdresses, folk games, and various types of handicrafts.
"We've focused specifically on Kyrgyz traditions. We're demonstrating rituals such as bala beshikke saluu, braiding, and kyz uzatuu. We're also holding a master class on elechek oroo, where we explain how many meters of fabric are used, what patterns were used, and what types of elechek were worn by women in different regions of the country," she said. Visitors can also learn about the traditional headdresses of various Central Asian and other nomadic peoples.
Handcrafts play a special role in the program. Guests can see how kurak kiyiz is made, weaving, sayma embroidery, beadwork, and other traditional applied arts are performed.
According to Samira Shamirova, the program also introduces guests to traditional drinks and dishes. Visitors are taught how to make kumys, chalap, and other national beverages, and are also shown traditional methods of grain processing and talkan preparation.
Guests can also enjoy Kyrgyz folk games such as ordo, upai, toguz korgool, arkan tartysh, tayak tartysh, and kyrgyz kurosh.
A separate section is dedicated to prominent women of Kyrgyzstan. During the fashion show, participants will present looks by Kurmanzhan Datka, Tattybubu Tursunbaeva, Myskal Omurkanova, Baken Kydykeeva, and other famous Kyrgyz women.
The program also includes interactive quizzes for viewers, complete with gifts. Guests will answer questions about Kyrgyz traditions, national dishes and drinks, folk crafts, and culture.
The Narc Art House creative school program will be held at Rukh Ordo from September 2nd to 5th.
