Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah in Harbin
Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2025 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, February 7, met with Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah in Harbin city as part of his state visit to China.
The press service of the head of state said that the sides discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways of its further development.
President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed hope that along with bilateral political dialogue, interregional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and ASEAN will also be established.
The president spoke about the reforms being carried out in the country, large-scale modernization and construction of socio-economically significant facilities and road and transport infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that the republic is actively developing international transport corridors, in particular, the project to build the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which will significantly expand trade relations between Central Asia and world markets, including ASEAN countries.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted energy, the IT sector, raw material processing, and the development of the halal industry as possible areas of partnership between the countries. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is striving to create international standards for certification of halal products and expressed interest in exchanging experience with Brunei, which has significant expertise in this area.
President Zhaparov invited Brunei investors to take part in energy and industrial projects in Kyrgyzstan, including the development of hydropower, solar and wind power plants.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan and Brunei have great potential for developing cooperation in all areas, both bilateral and multilateral.
The Sultan also emphasized the importance of supporting each other on the global platform of the United Nations. He expressed readiness to strengthen economic cooperation, and also noted the prospects for cooperation in tourism and projects in the field of education. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah invited President Sadyr Zhaparov to pay an official visit to Brunei Darussalam. At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two countries confirmed their readiness to strengthen bilateral ties and implement joint projects that contribute to the development of economic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Brunei Darussalam.
