Bishkek, March 19, 2025. /Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Nurlan Ermekbaev on March 18.

The head of state congratulated the secretary general on taking office, wishing him success in this responsible position.

"You are taking office as secretary general at a difficult time, when international relations are undergoing major changes.

Therefore, the role and significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in world politics is steadily increasing, representing a unique platform for dialogue between the largest regional powers," said Sadyr Zhaparov.

He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches exceptional importance to its participation in the SCO and confirms the need to further deepen cooperation between the Organization's member states in all areas of interaction.

One of the important events for Kyrgyzstan will be the chairmanship in the SCO, which will pass to the country in the fall of this year.

Speaking about the main priorities of cooperation within the SCO, the head of state noted the development of trade, economic, transport and logistics ties. In this context, it is important to create effective financial mechanisms, in particular the SCO Development Bank.

SCO Secretary General Nurlan Ermekbaev congratulated Sadyr Zhaparov on the signing of the Treaty on the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He noted that all SCO member states were enthusiastic about this news.

Emphasizing the active participation of Kyrgyzstan in the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Ermekbaev recalled that thanks to the initiative of Sadyr Zhaparov, a Roadmap for cooperation with SCO dialogue partners was developed.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan made a proposal to create a Center for Combating International Organized Crime, which will be located in Bishkek. At the end of the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed readiness to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation within the SCO and the practical implementation of all previously reached agreements.
