Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2026 /Kabar/. The State Flag—embodying the legacy, strength and spirit of the ancestors who gave their lives for the people and their land—is a source of national pride, a symbol of the country's unity and statehood, a legacy inherited from our forebears, and a sacred symbol that must be passed on to future generations, President Sadyr Zhaparov said during a ceremonial raising of the State Flag in the central square of Talas, held as part of celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence.
"When our Flag is raised—illuminated by the sun and crowned with the tunduk, which embodies the spirit of our ancestors—the heart of every citizen of Kyrgyzstan should stir, and the words, 'This is my Motherland! This is my legacy!' should resonate in their hearts and minds. Everyone must feel a sense of responsibility for preserving and passing on to future generations the land, the people, the language, the traditions and the values bequeathed to us by our ancestors," the President said.
The head of state also noted that passing on to future generations the banner inherited from the country's ancestors—without allowing its colors to fade or its significance to diminish—depends on the work and tireless efforts of the present generation.
The National Flag was raised in Talas Oblast as part of celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence.
Kyrgyzstan's Independence Day is traditionally celebrated on August 31. This year, however, the main celebrations were postponed due to the SCO Summit held in Bishkek.
In recent years, it has become a tradition to hold Independence Day celebrations in different regions of the country. This year's festivities are taking place in Talas, while last year's celebrations were held in Jalal-Abad Oblast.
